HTC Officially Launches the U11 Life, Android One, Snapdragon 630, 3/4GB RAM, 2,600mAh Battery

HTC recently held a hardware launch event at what was speculated to only be for one device, the HTC U11 Life. Instead, the Taiwanese handset maker officially unveiled both the U11 Life as well as the U11+ at the event. We talked about the U11+ earlier today so now we wanted to dive into details of their newly launched mid-range device. Not only will it be more affordable than the HTC U11+, but the U11 Life will also be the company’s first smartphone to be included in Google’s Android One program.

Let’s start off with the display as it’s the first thing most people will look at and this device has a 5.2″ 1080p Super LCD panel. The front also houses a 16MP f/2.0 camera for selfies and it is the same camera that they’re using for the back of the device as well. Inside it uses the Snapdragon 630 SoC from Qualcomm and it will be available in two different variants with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for one version or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for the other (both have a microSD card slot).

The U11 Life is IP67 certified, but it does not have a 3.5mm headphone port and instead opts for a USB 2.0 Type-C connector for both charging and audio output. All of this is powered by the 2,600mAh capacity battery which most will say is average for a mid-range device like this. There will be two different versions of the phone with T-Mobile being the exclusive carrier in the United States, and this version comes equipped with Android 7.0 and HTC Sense on top of it.

The rest of the world gets the Android One version. It will have the Android One logo on the back and will launch with Android 8.0 Oreo right out of the box. Pricing for the HTC U11 Life starts at £349 (which should be around $385). Google says the Android One version will first launch in Germany in Media Markt stores and on Amazon.de followed by Europe and Asia Pacific later this year and into 2018.
