Android 7.0 Nougat is now Rolling out to the ZenFone 3 Deluxe

ASUS devices tend to fly under the radar, but their devices tend to pack pretty impressive specifications for their price point. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe is no exception.

The device launched in the middle of 2016 with specifications ranging from a Snapdragon 820 + 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM in the base model to a Snapdragon 821 + 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM in the premium model, with prices ranging from $400 to $500. There’s even a model with a gargantuan 256GB ROM, but that one costs near $800, so we can’t exactly call that a bargain.

Nevertheless, it was never the specifications of ASUS ZenFone devices that hampered its popularity among enthusiasts. It was the software. Often described as bloated and slow, ASUS seems to like recouping the cost of its smartphone manufacturing process by bundling a bunch of third-party software with the phone. Thankfully, ASUS provides an official bootloader unlocking tool (which was actually only released just a few days back), so users on our forums will be able to take matters into their own hands and modify the software to their liking.

But for those of you holding onto hope that a software update will fix the issues with the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, we have some good news to share: Android Nougat is now finally rolling out to your device! This comes a little over a month since the Nougat update was released (and temporarily halted) for the base ZenFone 3 model. While we don’t have a detailed change-log to share, the build, marked ZS550KL_ WW_V22.40.26.43, will undoubtedly bring all of the enhancements from Android Nougat that you would expect such as an improved doze mode and official multi-window support.

If you’ve been waiting for ASUS to finally update the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, you shouldn’t have to wait much longer. It may take a few days or a week or two for the OTA to reach your device, but once you’ve got the update, you can enjoy that sweet Nougat-y goodness that the rest of us have been enjoying.
